Broncos decline to activate Kareem Jackson after his latest suspension, meaning he could be cut

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 09:06:46 GMT

DENVER (AP) — There’s a good possibility 14th-year safety Kareem Jackson will get cut on Christmas Day after the Denver Broncos chose not to activate him for their game against New England on Sunday night following his return from his second suspension. The Broncos’ roster exemption on Jackson expires Monday, so they’ll either have to make room for him by bidding farewell to another player or release the 14-year veteran. If that happens, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the end of the road for Jackson in Denver. The Broncos could try to re-sign him to their practice squad and then elevate him for their final two games and any playoff games if they qualify. But a release would certainly open the possibility Denver’s defensive tone-setter has played his last game in navy and orange, if not in the NFL altogether.PJ Locke has played exceptionally well in Jackson’s absence and he became the first safety in franchise history to sack the quarterback in t...

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 09:06:46 GMT

The city of Frederick, Maryland, is banning businesses from giving out plastic bags starting in the new year.Customers will have to bring their own bags to stores to shop for items like food, clothes and hardware starting Jan. 1, 2024. Businesses can offer paper bags as an alternative. The city said that the goal of the plastic bag ban is to improve the environment of Frederick and safeguard the health of residents “by reducing the number of single use plastic bags in the stream of commerce, litter, pollution, waste and to encourage the use of reusable bags.”Frederick’s decision is in alignment with a statewide effort to ban plastic bags.In June, lawmakers in Anne Arundel County ordered a similar ban on plastic bags at grocery stores. That law will go into effect in January as well.Prince George’s County Council also passed a bill in May that would ban plastic bags and add a 10-cent fee for each paper bag used at retail stores across the county.Source

Glover, the church’s senior pastor.Glover’s words of hope come less than 24 hours since the fire drew a massive response. Twenty-five units from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue were able to knock down the flames. While the building’s exterior doesn’t show much damage, FLFR Deputy Chief Garrett Pingol said looks are deceiving.“Because of the size of the building, it does a very good job at hiding what actually occurred inside,” he said. “What you’re...

King Charles III’s unfiltered Christmas speech

BUCK PAL, London — Oh, for the love of god Camilla, must I do another one of these dreary things? What do you mean we’re “rolling”? I think I’d be able to tell if I was making some miserable sounding off-the-cuff remark live on television, thank you very much! Right, here goes…Christmas! Chrimble! Xmas! The big Deccy 2-5! But what even is it?It’s a time for family, obvz. The thoughtful gift given, the kind word said, the passable meal shared. On this day above all days, we remember and give thanks to those whose immense sacrifices have made our own happiness possible. For some, such gratitude is shown through less traditional means.Loved ones may choose to sulk in America like massive posh toddlers. They may choose to imply their family is a bunch of racist dinosaurs on Oprah. They may even insert the phrase “frostbitten penis” into a frankly over-written autobiography most people didn’t ever bother to finish. Above all, Christmas is a time to forgive and...

His latest book is called “The World Is Vertical.”The Israel-Hamas war is an ominous message to the world: The guardrails that long stopped wars from breaking out are now effectively failing.Of course, Ukraine was the first sign of this. After Russia invaded the country, it quickly became the worst conflict in Europe since World War II. Except, at the onset, the world didn’t know what to make of it. Was this a “one-off” event or the start of something else? The latest flareup in the Middle East answers this question. The conflict between Israel and Hamas signals that a new era has begun — one where wars are no longer black-swan events that occur every decade or so. Rather, they are becoming a regular occurrence, representing the most significant transformation to global affairs since 9/11. This is a pivotal moment in history, as it signals that whatever stood ...
